Telling Stories in English

Telling stories well is both good fun and a nuanced, high-level skill -- especially in a second language. And listening to stories means stepping into a world with its own vocabulary, phrasing, and form -- and a wealth of cultural insights. In this mini-English course, we'll expand vocabulary, cultural understanding, and storytelling skill in three ways: (1) listening to and discussing classic short stories in English, (2) learning the elements of effective storytelling, and (3) telling parts of our own stories.

Social Life: What does American friendship look like? How do Americans approach social interactions? How can I connect well with Americans in social settings?

The Relationship-Building Process: How do we get started? How can I have better friendly conversations with Americans, and how can I have better conflict conversations with Americans? And very practically, how do I gracefully start and exit conversations in English?
