Saturday Market

PeachesIt’s not Munich’s Viktualienmarkt, but Greenville’s TD Saturday Market is a pleasant way to pass a summer morning and take home locally grown and produced products.

Greenville’s Main Street becomes a farmers’ market every Saturday morning from 8:30 to 12:30 in the summer, from May 4 through October 26.

At the TD Saturday Market, you can pick up a basket of juicy local peaches, a bunch of fresh sunflowers, a handful of crisp peppers, a bag of handmade organic pasta, or a jar of honey made by South Carolinian bees. Check the Seasonal Offerings calendar to see what’s best to buy each month.

Saturday Market: it’s good for you, and good for the local economy.

A few tips:

  • Bring your own bag for carrying your purchases.

  • Carry cash, since not all vendors take debit/credit cards.

  • Bring the kids, but leave the pets at home–they’re not permitted.

  • Ask questions: the farmer-vendors who have grown the fruits and veggies will have an idea or two on how to prepare them.

  • Come hungry: in addition to raw produce, some booths sell prepared food such as coffee and croissants.
